Buena Vista Wedding

Buena Vista (pronounced locally Bue-nee Vista) is a town in Chaffee County, Colorado at an altutude of 7,965ft. The population was 2,195 at the 2000 census.

Note: the name is given the corrupted Anglicized pronunciation, "byoona vista." If you want to appear as a non-native local call it Bueny, pronounced as "Byoo-nee". However, many native Colorado residents with Spanish roots would rather have it pronounced in the original dialect as "Bwenah".

Buena Vista is a popular access point for whitewater rafting on the Arkansas river.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 2,195 people, 978 households, and 622 families residing in the town. The population density was 246.4/km (638.6/mi). There were 1,124 housing units at an average density of 126.2/km (327.0/mi). The racial makeup of the town was 96.81% White, 0.09% African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.73% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.74% of the population.
